FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Indy Airport Celebrates Grand Opening of Harry & Izzy’s Expansion
A former world-record holder and American-record holder, Miller won a gold medal at the 2016 Olympics as part of the U.S. 4 x 100-meter medley relay and a bronze medal in the 100-meter breaststroke. He is a decorated swimmer earning medals from the FINA World Championships, FINA Short Course World Championships and Pan American Games. Miller’s and Gahl’s conversation centered around not only Miller’s swimming accolades, but the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming that will take place next June right here in Indianapolis.
“Part of why Indy can attract world-class events like the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials is because we have a world-class airport – and one that features the best tastes of Indy for our guests like with Harry & Izzy’s world-class shrimp cocktail,” said Mario Rodriguez, executive director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority. “It takes all of the stars lining up, like a top airport, a great city with great dining and proven experience in hosting some of the biggest spectacles in sporting events – and Indy is ready to host the most prestigious swimming event in the United States.”
Today’s grand opening was the latest in an exciting string of grand openings that have taken place at the Indy airport in the past year, as the IAA’s concessions refresh program resumes as air travel recovers. New openings include The Farmers’ Market featuring Indiana Grown, Shake Shack, the Pacers Courtside Club, Bub’s Burgers & Ice Cream, Bento Sushi, Tinker Coffee Café and Ben’s Soft Pretzels, with the Circle City Beer Garden and The Tap planning to open by early next year.
Just in time for the checkered flag
“Harry & Izzy’s has been proudly serving Indianapolis residents and visitors since 2008,” said Craig Huse, chief executive officer of Huse Culinary. “With this expansion of the IND airport location, we are able to serve and delight more guests of our city every day.”
Harry & Izzy’s new expansion was operational – along with a new menu including more appetizers and enhanced breakfast options and its iconic shrimp cocktail — just in time for the more than 84,000 people who traveled in and out of the Indy airport for the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race during Memorial Day weekend.
The new menu also features eggs benedict, filet benedict, chicken sliders, filet sliders, and steak entrees, and the new space now offers approximately 40 percent more seating with an expanded bar. The bar expansion features a shrimp cocktail station, where guests can see shrimp cocktails being assembled before their own eyes.
“Harry & Izzy’s is a quintessential Indianapolis restaurant representing the ultimate classic American grill which exudes class and sophistication in an approachable, comfortable setting,” said SSP America’s Vice President of Business Development Bob Stanton. “At SSP America, we’re focused on bringing a ‘taste of place’ to Indy and love being part of the airport community. Our thanks to Craig Huse and the team at Huse Culinary for their partnership—it’s an honor to represent this iconic brand.”
Miller treated Harry and Izzy’s patrons today to an inside perspective on what it’s like to be an Olympic medalist, and a look forward into the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming coming to Lucas Oil Stadium June 15 – 23, 2024 – the first time the event will be staged on a football field.
Representatives from Indiana Sports Corp., Visit Indy, and various members of the local organizing committee also participated in the grand opening event ahead of the one year out celebration of Indy hosting the most prestigious swimming event in the United States.
