SSP America & Midway Partnership Create Work Opportunities in Chicago

It’s always a good day to celebrate new restaurant openings. SSP America recently opened a terrific collection of new restaurants at Midway International Airport (MDW)! Congratulations to our food travel experts for the tremendous passion and effort to get these restaurants open and create work opportunities in Chicago! It takes every one of the PASSION Principles to open new restaurants!

The openings are part of a larger project for Midway Partnership––a joint venture comprised of SSP America, Vantage Airport Group, and Hudson––tasked with transforming the dining and shopping options at MDW. The project has brought more than 70 new dining and retail brands to the airport, increased the concessions area by approximately 30,000 square feet, and created hundreds of hostess jobs, restaurant server jobs,  restaurant manager careers, and more! Additionally, Midway Partnership boasts one of the nation’s highest Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise participation levels at nearly 60%, including the work of North American Concessions.

The restaurants include:

  • Reilly’s Daughter: Opening a second Reilly’s Daughter location at MDW is like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. From the Celtic symbols to the earth-tone browns and greens to the Gaelic-inspired font, ‘Reilly’s two Daughters’ at Midway are real deal Irish Pubs right in the terminal. The menu features Irish-inspired classics––like the Reuben, Corned Beef, and Fish & Chips––and other crowd pleasers––like Chicken Tenders, Brussels Sprouts, and Bacon Cheese Fries––and even an RLT––a BLT with an Irish twist.
  • Chicago White Sox Bar & Grill: One look at the stunning architecture of the White Sox-themed sports bar and one can almost smell the fresh cut grass and hear the SMACK! of the ball against the bat. The menu features ballpark favorites, like the Chicago Dog and the Ace Cheeseburger, as well as sit-down fare, such as the Shortstop Sweet Soy Salmon and the Double Play Cobb Salad.

In the redeveloped Central Market Food Hall:

  • America’s Dog & Burger: Based on a cross-country road trip, the menu features hot dogs from across the U.S. and is considered an iconic Chicago food gem.
  • Connie’s Pizza: A Chicago favorite since 1963 and a pizza pioneer, Connie’s Pizza is a go-to restaurant for those who crave the city’s classic deep-dish pizza.
  • Big Bowl: Offers authentic, wok-tossed Chinese bowls using the highest quality ingredients with options including Orange Chicken, Beef & Broccoli, and additions such as Potstickers and Egg Rolls.
  • M Burger: A local Chicago handmade burger joint sure to satisfy passenger cravings serving up burgers made with freshly ground, all-natural midwestern Black Angus beef, Kennebec fries, Martin’s Potato Buns, and house-made sauces.
  • Tallboy Taco: From Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood comes locally made tortillas in a quick, casual, and funky environment. The menu includes fan-favorite tacos, quesadillas, and salads along with refreshing agua fresca.
  • Dunkin: Midway runs on Dunkin’ with its famous coffee, donuts, pastries, sandwiches, and more.
