PASSION speaker at celebration dinner

SSP America is focused on what guides us every day: our global values of team, passion, curiosity, and ownership. These values shape how we work together, how we support one another, and how we show up for our teammates, partners, and guests across our airport locations and the support center.

Recently, leaders from across the team shared what these values mean to them and how they put them into action. Together, their voices paint a powerful picture of a culture grounded in connection, accountability, and purpose.

As Chief Executive Officer George Mboya shared, living these values creates something bigger than a job—it builds trust, strengthens collaboration, and helps deliver experiences that team members and travelers remember.

Operations Manager Wellington Rocha of Boston Logan International Airport echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the values work best together. When exercised collectively, team, passion, curiosity, and ownership create a strong foundation for leadership and collaboration across the organization.

Team: Stronger Together

Team is at the heart of how we work at SSP America. It’s about collaboration, respect, and care—showing up for one another, communicating openly, and recognizing that our best results happen when we work together.

Senior Specialist, Benefits Billing and Data Rebecca Varner shared how team inspires her to build deeper connections, take ownership in her role, and grow through curiosity and learning. Manager, Operations Sheri Dykowski reinforced that team-oriented environments are essential to success, noting that collaboration has always been central to how she approaches her work.

Across our business, team means listening first, setting clear expectations, celebrating shared wins, and creating environments where people feel supported, trusted, and empowered to succeed.

Passion: The Energy Behind Everything We Do

Passion fuels SSP America. It’s the pride we take in our work, the energy we bring each day, and the commitment to go the extra mile for teammates, partners, and guests.

Analyst, Culinary Systems Jeremy Blythe described passion as a cornerstone of SSP America’s culture, one that keeps every other value in balance. For him, reconnecting with his ‘why’ helps ensure his work positively impacts operators, team members, and customers alike.

Vice President, Corporate Marketing and Communications Lana Cramer shared that passion is a word she leans into daily. It’s a value she holds dear and one she’s excited to see brought to life by teams across the organization.

Curiosity: Learning, Adapting, and Growing

Curiosity is how SSP America continues to learn and evolve. It’s about asking better questions, staying open to new ideas, and challenging assumptions so we can adapt in a constantly changing environment.

Director of Operations Lidexy Rodriguez of Orlando International Airport shared that curiosity drives her desire to understand all aspects of the business, helping her make informed decisions in the best interest of teams and the company. Director, Centers of Excellence Shawna Jones highlighted how curiosity has been essential in her transition into airport operations, fueling learning, partnership, and innovation through listening, observing, and asking the right questions.

When we lead with curiosity, we create space for growth, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Ownership: Accountability That Builds Trust

Ownership means accountability, integrity, and taking responsibility for outcomes every day at every level of the business.

Regional Vice President of Operations Trish Singh shared that ownership and team go hand in hand. By practicing self-accountability and discipline, leaders set the standard and create engaged, high-performing teams. Director of Operations Mathias Zippert of Portland International Airport emphasized that ownership is especially critical in high-volume airport environments, where every decision directly impacts guests and team members.

These stories reflect how SSP’s global values come to life through the people who live them every day. By leading with team, passion, curiosity, and ownership, our teams continue to shape a culture that supports one another and makes SSP America the best part of the journey.
