SSP America Opens Multiple New Concepts at YOW

People

SSP America is thrilled to have opened a wonderful new collection of restaurants and increased work opportunities at Ottawa International Airport (YOW)! It’s a terrific lineup of Canadian brands that deliver the ‘taste of place’ we’re known for! In fact, Peter Hum of the Ottawa Citizen recently published an article entitled, “Can we say ‘Yum?’ at YOW? At the Ottawa International Airport, the food has improved.”

Here’s what Mark Laroche, President and CEO of the Ottawa International Airport Authority, had to say, “The opening of the new Canal Market Hall food court and Big Rig Kitchen and Brewery sit-down restaurant have elevated the food and beverage experience at YOW. Passengers and airport employees alike are enjoying SSP’s signature ‘taste of place’ and the iconic local brands and flavours they’ve incorporated into their beautiful new spaces. The reimagined concession program is exceeding our expectations and we can’t wait for the remaining activations to come to life.”

We’re proud to have helped create many full-time careers and jobs hiring now at YOW. The new restaurants include:

  • Big Rig Brewery: Sports bar meets brewery meets flight deck in YOW’s new full-service bar and restaurant. Big Rig Brewery serves all dayparts, but it’s more than just delicious food. The recipient of many Canadian and Ontario Brewing Awards, Big Rig knows a thing or two about beer. The full-service bar is an out-and-out craft brew destination befitting a flight to YOW on its own. Big Rig also has a full cocktail menu and premium wines including some from the local Okanagan Valley region.
  • Bridgehead Coffee: Bridgehead, which operates throughout Ottawa, was the first in Canada to offer consumers ‘fairly traded’ coffee. Dedicated to great coffee, people, and the planet, the Bridgehead team travels far and wide to find exceptional coffees from small-scale farmers and serve them in comfortable, community-focused coffeehouses. The YOW location serves passengers throughout the day with a menu that includes a wide range of hot and cold coffees, espresso drinks, specialty drinks, beer, and wine, as well as baked goods and an assortment of grab-and-go items.
  • La Bottega: This 30-year-old brand is Ottawa’s favorite Italian grocer and supplier of quality Italian foods. La Bottega is ranked as one of the top restaurants in Ottawa on TripAdvisor, with an average rating of 4.5 stars. La Bottega delivers passengers all-day breakfast croissants, their famous panini sandwiches, and a variety of Italian specialty products and desserts.
  • Bento Sushi: Bento got its start in 1996 in downtown Toronto as a small takeout shop. Since then, it’s grown to become Canada’s largest sushi company. The YOW outpost offers the brand’s popular grab-and-go sushi such as California, Spicy Tuna, and Salmon Volcano, as well as tuna and salmon poke bowls and sides of Seaweed Salad and Edamame.
