‘Whistler’ While You Work
We’re pleased to have opened Whistler Taphouse & Grill, a Whistler Brewing Company brand, at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). We like to ‘Whistler while we create work opportunities!’
Whistler Brewing Company is a local British Columbia brand and a pioneer in the craft brewing movement of the region. The brand’s beers include Mountaineer Pilsner, Bear Paw Honey Lager, Hazy Trail Pale Ale, Function Junction Northwest Pale Ale, Black Tusk Ale, Forager Gluten Free Lager, Forager Gluten Free Pale Ale, and more.
The YVR Taphouse location’s menu has something for everyone! The day can start with a Smoked Salmon and Avocado Board, Shakshuka, or a Breakfast Burger, among other options. Later in the day, travelers can enjoy Classic Poutine, Smoked Salmon Potato Leek Chowder, Korean Fried Tofu Bao, Pork Riblet, and more!
In addition to the many amazing Whistler Brewing Company beers available, there are multiple types of wine and cocktails including the Canadian Club Boulevardier and the Maker’s Mark Manhattan.
We’re proud to partner with this incredible local brand as we continue our quest to bring a ‘taste of place’ to airports. Here’s what SSP America’s Regional Vice Presidents of Operations, Canada, Richard Wilson had to say about the exciting opening, “This is a ‘taste of place’ that will take B.C. passengers in YVR on a nostalgic journey to having the first proverbial ‘beer at the family dinner table.’ This brand has been a craft brewer in B.C. since before there were words like ‘craft’ and ‘micro’ to add to the name. The Whistler Black Tusk Ale and Whistler Lager are iconic to B.C. The opportunity to have SSP chefs collaborate with the Whistler team has been very special. There are too many people to thank in a single message for bringing this to life, but we should all be very proud of the result. I am deeply appreciative of everyone’s vision and efforts.”
Additionally, the restaurant is already getting positive reviews on Tripadvisor:
- Passing Through and Coming Back
“Good area for in between flights. Bright and not too loud. Hockey on TVs at the time we were there but no sound which is good for dining. Our server, Anne L., was excellent with a great personality. We had Fish & Chips and the other had the Spicy Chicken Burger which had an interesting fusion taste. Not too spicy at all but changed our view of a ‘burger’. Recommend it.” – Lynne D, March 2024
- A Night At YVR
“Sat down for dinner after a stressful experience with security, the food was good, suggestions by our server Anne L, on top of that, service was excellent, thanks Anne for turn[ing] around our evening 👍.” – Henry J W, May 2024
The new venue creates hostess jobs, restaurant server jobs, restaurant manager careers, and more!
