SSP America’s PASSION Cup Toured the Winning Airports

At SSP America, we have hardworking, dedicated teams all over the US and Canada. Every year, a few stand out above the rest and win the coveted SSP America PASSION Cup. Winning teams produce superior results across a variety of metrics, including safety and service.

The Cup just wrapped up its tour of the most recently awarded airports: San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC), under the direction of Tony Corona; Tampa International Airport (TPA), under the direction of Bill Pritts; St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport (PIE), under the direction of David Turner; and Eastern Iowa Airport (CID), under the direction of Jeff Ries. We asked the directors of operations for their thoughts on winning the Cup.

Tony weighed in, saying, “It is truly an honor to receive the PASSION Cup and celebrate the entire SJC team that made it happen. As I continue to challenge them and set goals, their commitment to excellence and constant improvement is what makes it happen. I couldn’t be prouder to be part of this team.”

Bill thanked his team for this win, saying, “As the senior director of operations for SSP America at TPA, being awarded the PASSION Cup is truly an honor. This achievement was 100% a team effort, and every single member of the TPA familia earned this award. Our leadership team has cultivated an environment where, every day, people from all walks of life come together to be a part of a team—to be a part of a family.  At SSP America TPA, we believe in people, and people, in turn, believe in themselves and us. Anything is possible for those who believe!”

Jeff commented, “Winning the PASSION Cup is a tribute to the CID team. Their ability to persevere through the challenges we encounter is reflected in this award. Their PASSION for every detail, faith in the process, and dedication to each other is what allows us to deliver a great guest experience and overall results throughout the year.”

Finally, David said, “Although my name is on the Cup, this award truly belongs to the entire team here at PIE. I am blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful, hard-working, and dedicated people. This was all possible because of the incredible support we have for each other, our partnership with the St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport, and Operations Manager Jose Blanco. PIE familia strong!”

These teams—and every SSP America team throughout North America—should give themselves a round of applause.
